Another Awesome Autumn Day

Skyler rolling noodles with grandmother's rolling pin.

Poor sick JoJo
Skyler cutting noodles - Sierra critiquing - usually noodle making is her job.

Well, the day after I stated in one of my previous blogs that I'm looking foward to seeing the kids in their new school clothes...guess what - It got chilly. The 50-60 degree weather was a welcomed change; the reason why we love the midwest so much. So we drug out the jackets and bought some pumpkins.

Spencer happened to catch the bug that it seems everyone has. Yesterday, I had day planned for house cleaning, flag football game preparing for and studying. Have you ever heard the saying "if you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans?" We'll, Spencer woke up with a 103 degree fever. He held his ears a little and my time in Canada led me to believe that even if it was an ear infection, the doctor wouldn't presribe an antibiotic unless it went on (the fever and ear pulling) for over a week. Well my inner mommy wouldn't let it go so I called the doctor and the receptionists said "yes he needs to be seen immediately." So much for my instinct. Anyway, he is seen by the doctor and is deemed "fine" with just a virus. What I thought, and a wasted 2 hours of study time but I did feel better anyway. Motrin is doing the trick like the Dr. said so I took Sierra and Doc to their swimming and tumbling and soccer today, picked up ribbons for our football game, got groceries, and more Motrin and came home. That's when our awesome Autumn Fall day began.
I made my "cure what ailes ya" chicken noodle soup and Skyler made the homemade noodles with grandmother's recipe. It always seems to make you feel better when you're sick and even if you're not. JoJo didn't eat much but he did get some broth.

We then carved our pumpkin, Skyler scooped and Jeff carved. It turned out really good this year. We roasted the pumpkin seeds to boot. They taste like chex mix a little and the kids were surprised at that. Jeff even made a fire and the kids roasted marshmallows.
Hope your Autumn is awesome as well. What a great season!
